What a UX audit and CRO project covers

UX audit and CRO work suits a site or store with steady visitors and too few sales or enquiries: the audit shows where people stop and why, and CRO fixes those spots. It is the wrong buy if too few people reach you at all, because an audit can only read the visits you already have.

Analytics review

Where visitors come from, where they drop off and which pages carry the sales.

Funnels by device and by source
Weak add to cart points at the product page
A checkout drop points at delivery cost, trust or payment

Session recordings

How real visitors move through your key pages, where consent allows.

Recordings in Microsoft Clarity or Hotjar
Scroll and click maps
Dead ends and repeated clicks noted

Expert review

Each key page scored against Nielsen's ten usability heuristics, a widely used list of usability rules.

Navigation, forms and checkout
Copy, layout and calls to action
What already works, so the fixes leave it alone

Accessibility basics and speed

The barriers and slow pages that cost you buyers, in the same list as everything else.

Contrast and keyboard use
Tested on a mid-range phone
Measured against Google's Core Web Vitals thresholds

Ranked fix list

Every finding with its evidence, its severity and the effort to fix it.

Ranked by severity and effort
Walked through with you on a call
You choose what to fix first

Fixes

We make the agreed fixes on WordPress or Shopify, or your developers work from the list.

Written so a developer can act on it
Each change approved by you first
Before and after numbers compared

A/B tests

The biggest changes tested against the current page, only where traffic can give an answer.

A testing tool that fits your platform
The numbers behind every result
A plain call when a test shows nothing

Audit only, audit and fixes, or testing?

Option Best for Keep in mind
Audit only

Teams with their own developers who want an outside view and a clear list.

The list only helps once someone makes the changes.

Audit and fixes

Teams that want the top problems fixed by the people who found them.

Clear fixes go straight in. Only big or uncertain changes need a test.

Ongoing testing

Sites and stores with steady, high traffic.

Each test needs enough visitors to give a clear answer, which rules out many smaller sites.

Talk it through on a call

We look at what you have now and what you want it to do.

We tell you how we would do it and who would work on it.

You get a fixed quote in writing after the call, with nothing to sign until you are ready.

How an audit runs

Most of an audit happens without a meeting. You meet us twice, at the goals call and the walk-through, and you decide what gets fixed.

Goals and access

On a call we agree what counts as a conversion and which flows matter. You give us read-only access to your analytics, and the accounts stay in your name. If tracking is missing, we set it up first.

Data review

We read traffic sources, funnels, drop-off and recordings for the key pages, by device and by source.

Expert review

Our team goes through each key page for usability, accessibility basics and phone speed, with a screenshot per finding.

Walk-through

You get every finding ranked by severity and effort, and we go through it on a call. You choose what to fix first.

Fixes and tests

We make the fixes you approve, or your developers do. Big or uncertain changes get an A/B test if traffic allows; otherwise we compare before and after.

What the audit hands you

The list, the evidence and the report are transferred to you on final payment, under the contract, so your team can check our reasoning or hand the work to another developer. The quote depends on the size of the site, the number of flows, whether tracking needs setting up and whether we make the fixes.

Fix list Every finding, ranked by severity and effort
Evidence Screenshots, recordings and the numbers behind each finding
Report What works and what does not, page by page
Dashboard Your funnel and key pages in Looker Studio
Tests For each A/B test in scope, what changed and what the numbers showed

Traffic, consent and limits

What shapes an audit before it starts, and the one thing it cannot do.

Traffic for A/B tests

A page converting at 3% needs tens of thousands of visitors to prove a 20% lift. Most tests do not win either. At Google and Bing, only about 10% to 20% of experiments produced positive results (Harvard Business Review, 2017).

Consent for recordings

Microsoft Clarity enforces consent signals for visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and says recordings and funnels might be limited without them. We check your setup before we rely on recordings. Whether your banner meets the law is a question for a lawyer.

What an audit cannot see

An expert review finds likely problems. Nielsen Norman Group is plain that it cannot replace user research, so the list marks anything only your customers can answer.

We can do either: a UX audit ends in a ranked list, and our team can make the fixes on WordPress or Shopify. If you have your own developers, the list is written for them to act on. You choose, finding by finding.

A UX audit gives you a ranked fix list, the evidence behind each finding and a page-by-page report that also notes what already works.

The quote for a UX audit is fixed, and you have it after one call. It depends on the size of the site, the number of flows we review, whether tracking needs setting up and whether we make the fixes.

A/B testing needs more traffic than many sites have. In our worked example, a page converting at 3% needs roughly 28,000 to 52,000 visitors across both versions to show a 20% lift. Below that kind of volume, we fix the clear problems and compare before and after.

No, nobody can honestly guarantee more sales from CRO. Even at Google and Bing, only about 10% to 20% of experiments produced positive results, according to a 2017 Harvard Business Review article. What we can do is find what stops people buying, fix it and show you the numbers before and after.

An AI tool can do part of a UX audit: it can point out common problems on a page or a screenshot. A general AI review has no access to your analytics, your recordings or your customers, which is where the reasons for a drop-off sit. Try one first if you like; that evidence is what a paid audit adds.
