What a web design company in the Netherlands needs to get right
Hiring a web design company in the Netherlands means planning for two regulators. The Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP) checks cookie banners and sends warning letters to companies that get them wrong; it expects a reject option on the first layer, as easy to see as accept. The Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has supervised online accessibility since 28 June 2025, when the Dutch law based on the European Accessibility Act took effect. In 2026 the ACM reported that most large online stores it tested were not accessible to customers with disabilities.
Selling online adds its own list. A Dutch site should show the company name, address, KVK number and VAT number, and consumers can withdraw from most online purchases within 14 days. If that notice is missing, the period runs on for up to 12 months. Since 19 June 2026 EU rules also ask online sellers for a clear withdrawal function on the site. Checkout is changing too: iDEAL, the payment many Dutch shoppers choose, is moving to Wero step by step from 2026, so stores should ask their payment provider what the plan is.
We have a client in the Netherlands and take on Dutch projects remotely, by video call. We have no Dutch office. The Netherlands is 3.5 hours behind India in summer and 4.5 hours behind in winter, so your morning overlaps with the Indian afternoon every working day. That makes a Shopify launch, a WordPress rebuild or an accessibility review easy to follow in real time. You get a fixed quote after one call, and your lawyer confirms the legal wording.
What businesses in the Netherlands ask a website to do
The sectors we think about first when a company here gets in touch.
Online shops
A Dutch webshop needs iDEAL at checkout, PostNL or DHL delivery options, a clear withdrawal notice in its order emails, and product and payment pages that work with a keyboard and a screen reader.
Logistics and export firms
Companies around the port of Rotterdam and the Westland growers sell across borders, so their sites often need trade ordering, stock lists and Dutch and English pages kept side by side.
Hotels and attractions
Dutch hotels and attractions sell to visitors from across Europe, so booking pages should show the full price from the start, with any mandatory fees included, in Dutch and English.

Probably, if you sell to consumers. The Dutch law has applied to webshops since 28 June 2025, and the ACM supervises it. Micro-enterprises with fewer than 10 staff and no more than 2 million euros in annual turnover or balance sheet total are exempt for services, but the ACM still advises small firms to take accessibility seriously.
It must let visitors refuse as easily as they accept. AP guidance expects a reject option on the first layer, as visible as the accept button, and tracking cookies must wait until someone agrees. The AP has sent warning letters over banners that fall short and can follow up with an investigation.
No, we have no Dutch office or staff. Krikir is registered in Madhya Pradesh, India, with a team of 10 in India and Canada. We take on Dutch projects remotely by video call, and your working morning overlaps with the Indian afternoon.
